KPV is a tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) derived from the C-terminal sequence of ฮฑ-MSH. It retains the anti-inflammatory properties of the parent peptide while being significantly smaller and more stable.
Key Research Areas
- Potent anti-inflammatory effects via NF-ฮบB pathway inhibition
- Studied for wound healing acceleration in skin and mucosal tissue
- Reduces pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, IL-8, TNF-ฮฑ) in cell models
- Studied for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colitis models
- Antimicrobial properties studied against Candida and Staphylococcus
Mechanism of Action
KPV inhibits NF-ฮบB nuclear translocation, reducing the transcription of pro-inflammatory genes. It also activates melanocortin receptors (MC1R, MC3R) to produce anti-inflammatory signalling.
